TCEAL4

Description

The TCEAL4 (transcription elongation factor A like 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

The TCEAL4 gene in humans produces a protein called Transcription elongation factor A protein-like 4. This protein belongs to a family of proteins known as Transcription elongation factor A (SII)-like (TCEAL) proteins. These proteins contain TFA domains and might act as nuclear phosphoproteins, regulating transcription in a way that depends on the specific promoter region involved. Several members of this family are located on the X chromosome. The TCEAL4 gene can produce different versions of its mRNA through alternative splicing, but the exact structure of all these mRNA variants is still being investigated.

TCEAL4 is also known as NPD017, WEX7.
