TAS2R39

Description

The TAS2R39 (taste 2 receptor member 39) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

Taste receptor type 2 member 39 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TAS2R39 gene. It may play a role in the perception of bitterness and is gustducin-linked. May play a role in sensing the chemical composition of the gastrointestinal content.

This receptor may be involved in detecting bitterness and is linked to gustducin. It might also help sense the chemical makeup of the gut contents. When activated, this receptor can stimulate alpha gustducin, activate PLC-beta-2, and ultimately open TRPM5 channels.

TAS2R39 is also known as T2R39, T2R57.
