TAS2R19

Description

The TAS2R19 (taste 2 receptor member 19) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

Taste receptor type 2 member 19 is a protein encoded by the TAS2R19 gene in humans. It is thought to be involved in the perception of both salt and bitter tastes.

This receptor is thought to be involved in the perception of bitterness and is linked to gustducin, a protein involved in taste signaling. It might also play a role in sensing the chemical composition of the gastrointestinal content. Activation of this receptor could stimulate alpha gustducin, activate PLC-beta-2, and ultimately lead to the opening of TRPM5 channels, which are involved in taste transduction.

TAS2R19 is also known as MSTP058, T2R19, T2R23, T2R48, TAS2R23, TAS2R48.
