TAS2R10

Description

The TAS2R10 (taste 2 receptor member 10) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

TAS2R10 is a protein encoded by the TAS2R10 gene in humans. It serves as a bitter taste receptor, helping us detect and avoid potentially harmful substances. TAS2R10 is a member of the G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family, meaning it sits on the cell membrane and helps relay messages between the outside and inside of the cell. When bitter molecules bind to TAS2R10, it activates a chain reaction that ultimately leads to the perception of bitterness.

TAS2R10 is also known as T2R10, TRB2.
