TAL1

Description

The TAL1 (TAL bHLH transcription factor 1, erythroid differentiation factor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

TAL1, also known as SCL/TAL1, is a gene that encodes a protein that functions as a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor. This protein is involved in regulating the expression of other genes, ultimately influencing the development of blood cells.

The TAL1 gene is implicated in the development of blood cancers (hemopoietic malignancies). It also appears to play a crucial role in the differentiation of blood cells (hemopoietic differentiation) and acts as a positive regulator in the development of red blood cells (erythroid differentiation).

TAL1 is also known as SCL, TCL5, bHLHa17, tal-1.
