Description
The TADA2A (transcriptional adaptor 2A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
TADA2A is a component of the ATAC complex, which exhibits histone acetyltransferase activity on histones H3 and H4. It is crucial for the functionality of certain acidic activation domains responsible for activating transcription from remote locations. TADA2A binds double-stranded DNA and dinucleosomes, likely at the linker region between adjacent nucleosomes. This protein plays a role in chromatin remodeling, potentially promoting acetylation of TP53/p53 at Lys-321, leading to decreased TP53 stability and transcriptional activity. Additionally, TADA2A may promote XRCC6 acetylation, facilitating cell apoptosis in response to DNA damage.
