The TACC2 (transforming acidic coiled-coil containing protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

TACC2 (Transforming acidic coiled-coil-containing protein 2) is a protein encoded by the TACC2 gene in humans. TACC proteins are a conserved family involved in cancer, known for their interaction with centrosomes and microtubules. TACC2 concentrates at centrosomes throughout the cell cycle, and its gene resides in a chromosomal region linked to tumorigenesis. TACC2 expression is thought to influence breast tumor progression and is induced by erythropoietin.

TACC2 plays a crucial role in the microtubule-dependent connection between the nucleus and the centrosome. It is involved in regulating centrosome-mediated interkinetic nuclear migration (INM) of neural progenitors. Additionally, TACC2 might contribute to organizing centrosomal microtubules and potentially act as a tumor suppressor protein, potentially serving as a marker for tumor progression.

TACC2 is also known as AZU-1, ECTACC.
