SYNGR1

Description

The SYNGR1 (synaptogyrin 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.

SYNGR1, the gene encoding Synaptogyrin-1, is located in humans. This gene produces an integral membrane protein associated with presynaptic vesicles in neurons. Although its exact function is not fully understood, studies on a similar protein in mice suggest its role in synaptic plasticity without being essential for synaptic transmission. Synaptogyrin-1 belongs to the synaptogyrin gene family, with three distinct isoforms identified through alternative splicing.
