SUPT7L

Description

The SUPT7L (SPT7 like, STAGA complex subunit gamma) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

SUPT7L, the gene responsible for encoding the STAGA complex 65 subunit gamma, is a human protein. It has been shown to interact with TAF9 and the transcription initiation protein SPT3 homolog.

SUPT7L plays a crucial role in transcriptional regulation as a component of the STAGA complex. This complex acts as a coactivator, enhancing the activity of other proteins involved in gene expression. Specifically, STAGA facilitates the acetylation of histone proteins, a key modification that allows DNA to be more accessible for transcription. This process ultimately influences the rate at which genes are transcribed into messenger RNA (mRNA), which then serves as a template for protein synthesis.

SUPT7L is also known as SPT7L, STAF65, STAF65(gamma), STAF65G, SUPT7H.
