STOML1

Description

The STOML1 (stomatin like 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

Stomatin-like protein 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the STOML1 gene.

Stomatin-like protein 1 (SLP-1) may be involved in cholesterol transfer to late endosomes. It may also play a role in modulating membrane acid-sensing ion channels, specifically inhibiting proton-gated current of ASIC1 isoform 1 and increasing inactivation speed of ASIC3. SLP-1 may be involved in regulation of proton sensing in dorsal root ganglions and protecting FBXW7 isoform 3 from degradation.

STOML1 is also known as SLP-1, STORP, hUNC-24.
