STARD10

Description

The STARD10 (StAR related lipid transfer domain containing 10) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

STARD10, also known as PCTP-like protein, is a lipid transfer protein encoded by the STARD10 gene. It contains a START domain and belongs to the StarD2 subfamily. STARD10 can transport phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine between membranes in solution. Casein kinase II phosphorylates the protein on its serine at position 184. While the exact function of STARD10 is not fully understood, its expression is linked to cancer. Recent findings suggest that a loss of STARD10 expression in breast cancer is associated with poor patient outcomes.

STARD10 is also known as CGI-52, NY-CO-28, PCTP2, SDCCAG28.
