ST13

Description

The ST13 (ST13 Hsp70 interacting protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.

ST13 is a protein encoded by the ST13 gene in humans. It functions as an adaptor protein that links the heat shock proteins HSP70 and HSP90, playing a role in the assembly of the glucocorticoid receptor. Lower ST13 expression levels in colorectal carcinoma tissue suggest its potential role as a tumor suppressor gene.

ST13 binds to the ATPase domains of two HSC70 molecules, a process facilitated by HSP40. This interaction stabilizes the ADP-bound state of HSC70, increasing its affinity for substrate proteins. ST13's own chaperone activity potentially enhances the interaction between HSC70 and various target proteins.

ST13 is also known as AAG2, FAM10A1, FAM10A4, HIP, HOP, HSPABP, HSPABP1, P48, PRO0786, SNC6.
