SSX5

Description

The SSX5 (SSX family member 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

The SSX5 gene encodes a protein belonging to the SSX family, known for their potential function as transcriptional repressors. These proteins can trigger immune responses in cancer patients and are promising targets for cancer immunotherapy. While other SSX genes, such as SSX1, SSX2, and SSX4, are associated with a specific chromosomal translocation in synovial sarcomas, SSX5 doesn't seem to be involved in this translocation. Two different forms of the SSX5 protein have been identified.
