SSX1

Description

The SSX1 (SSX family member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

SSX1 is a protein encoded by the SSX1 gene in humans. It belongs to a family of proteins called synovial sarcoma, X (SSX) breakpoint proteins, which are known to act as transcriptional repressors. These proteins can trigger immune responses in cancer patients and are potential targets for cancer immunotherapy. SSX1, along with SSX2 and SSX4, are involved in the t(X;18) chromosomal translocation, a hallmark of synovial sarcomas. This translocation fuses the synovial sarcoma translocation gene on chromosome 18 with one of the SSX genes on chromosome X, resulting in hybrid proteins that contribute to tumor formation.

SSX1 is also known as CT5.1, SPGFX5, SSRC.
