SRP9
Description
The SRP9 (signal recognition particle 9) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.
Signal recognition particle 9 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SRP9 gene.
SRP9 is a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex, which is a ribonucleoprotein complex that directs secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) during translation. SRP9, in association with SRP14 and the Alu portion of the SRP RNA, forms the elongation arrest domain of SRP. The interaction of SRP9 with SRP14 is essential for SRP RNA binding.
SRP9 is also known as ALURBP.
