SRP68

Description

The SRP68 (signal recognition particle 68) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

SRP68 is a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex, a ribonucleoprotein complex that guides secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) during their synthesis. SRP68 interacts with the signal sequence on nascent proteins, directing them to the ER membrane. SRP68 also interacts with SRP72 and 7SL RNA, forming a critical component of the SRP complex.

SRP68 is also known as SCN10.
