SPRY1

Description

The SPRY1 (sprouty RTK signaling antagonist 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

SPRY1 is a human gene that encodes the protein sprouty homolog 1. SPRY1 is related to the genes neurofibromin 1 and SPRED1.

SPRY1 plays a role in regulating cellular processes related to growth and development. It inhibits fibroblast growth factor (FGF)-induced differentiation of retinal lens fibers, likely by blocking FGF-mediated phosphorylation of ERK1/2. Additionally, SPRY1 suppresses transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ)-induced epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition in lens epithelial cells.

SPRY1 is also known as hSPRY1.
