SPRR2D

Description

The SPRR2D (small proline rich protein 2D) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

SPRR2D, also known as SPR-2D or Small proline-rich protein II, is a key component of the cornified envelope, a tough, protective layer that forms on the outermost layer of skin cells. This protein starts within the cell's cytoplasm but eventually binds to other membrane proteins through a process called transglutaminase cross-linking. This creates a strong, insoluble structure beneath the cell membrane, contributing to the skin's resilience and barrier function.

SPRR2D is also known as -.
