SPRR1A
Description
The SPRR1A (small proline rich protein 1A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.
Cornifin-A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SPRR1A gene.
Cornifin-A is a protein found in keratinocytes, the cells that make up our skin. It starts out in the cell's interior (cytosol) but then gets attached to other proteins in the cell membrane by an enzyme called transglutaminase. This creates a tough, protective layer beneath the cell's outer membrane.
SPRR1A is also known as SPRK.
