SPRED3
Description
The SPRED3 (sprouty related EVH1 domain containing 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.
SPRED3, also known as Spread-3, is a protein encoded by the SPRED3 gene in humans. It belongs to the Sprouty family of proteins, which regulate the activation of the MAP kinase cascade in response to growth factors.
SPRED3 acts as a tyrosine kinase substrate, inhibiting the activation of the MAP kinase pathway by growth factors. It specifically prevents FGF-induced retinal lens fiber differentiation by blocking FGF-mediated phosphorylation of ERK1/2. Additionally, SPRED3 inhibits epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition in lens epithelial cells induced by TGFB.
SPRED3 is also known as Eve-3, spred-3.
