SPC25

Description

The SPC25 (SPC25 component of NDC80 kinetochore complex) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

SPC25, also known as SPBC25, plays a crucial role in chromosome segregation and spindle checkpoint activity as a component of the NDC80 complex. This complex ensures proper kinetochore integrity and the establishment of stable microtubule binding sites within the outer plate of the kinetochore. The NDC80 complex's interaction with the SKA1 complex enhances microtubule affinity and potentially enables the NDC80 complex to track depolymerizing microtubules.

SPC25 is also known as AD024, SPBC25, hSpc25.
