SORBS3

Description

The SORBS3 (sorbin and SH3 domain containing 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

Vinexin is a protein encoded by the SORBS3 gene in humans. It has been shown to interact with DLG5 and MAPK1.

Vinexin alpha isoform enhances the formation of actin stress fibers, while Vinexin beta isoform promotes cell spreading and enhances the activation of JNK/SAPK in response to EGF stimulation through its third SH3 domain.

SORBS3 is also known as SCAM-1, SCAM1, SH3D4.
