SNX21

Description

The SNX21 (sorting nexin family member 21) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

Sorting nexin-21 is a protein encoded by the SNX21 gene in humans. It belongs to the sorting nexin family, characterized by a phox (PX) domain responsible for binding phosphoinositides, which play a role in intracellular trafficking. Unlike some family members, SNX21 lacks a coiled coil region. While its specific function remains unknown, multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.

SNX21 is also known as C20orf161, PP3993, SNX-L, SNXL, dJ337O18.4.
