SNX13

Description

The SNX13 (sorting nexin 13) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

SNX13 is a protein encoded by the SNX13 gene in humans. It contains a PHOX domain, which binds to phosphoinositides, and an RGS domain. SNX13 belongs to both the sorting nexin (SNX) family, involved in intracellular trafficking, and the regulator of G protein signaling (RGS) family. The RGS domain interacts with G alpha(s) and accelerates its GTP hydrolysis, attenuating G alpha(s)-mediated signaling. Overexpression of SNX13 delays the lysosomal degradation of the epidermal growth factor receptor. Due to its dual function, SNX13 may connect heterotrimeric G protein signaling with vesicular trafficking.

SNX13 is also known as RGS-PX1.
