SNRPC

Description

The SNRPC (small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide C) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

U1 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein C is a protein encoded by the SNRPC gene in humans. It has been shown to interact with Ewing sarcoma breakpoint region 1.

SNRPC, also known as U1 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein C, is a component of the U1 snRNP, a crucial complex for recognizing the 5' splice site of pre-mRNA and initiating spliceosome assembly. SNRPC directly engages in the initial recognition of the 5' splice site for both regular and alternative splicing. Interestingly, this interaction occurs before base pairing between the pre-mRNA and U1 snRNA. SNRPC enhances the formation of the early (E) complex by stabilizing the base pairing between the 5' end of the U1 snRNA and the 5' splice site region.

SNRPC is also known as U1C, Yhc1.
