SNRPB2

Description

The SNRPB2 (small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide B2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

The SNRPB2 gene encodes U2 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein B, a protein that associates with stem loop IV of U2 snRNP in the presence of snRNP-A'. This protein may play a role in pre-mRNA splicing. Autoantibodies from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus frequently recognize epitopes on this protein. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.

Involved in pre-mRNA splicing as a component of the spliceosome. Associated with sn-RNP U2, where it contributes to the binding of stem loop IV of U2 snRNA.

SNRPB2 is also known as Msl1, U2B''.
