SNRNP25

Description

The SNRNP25 (small nuclear ribonucleoprotein U11/U12 subunit 25) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

SNRNP25 is a protein that is involved in pre-mRNA splicing, a process that removes non-coding regions from RNA molecules. It is part of a complex called the U4/U6.U5 tri-snRNP, which is essential for splicing. SNRNP25 interacts with other proteins in this complex and helps to assemble the spliceosome, the machinery that carries out splicing.

SNRNP25 is a component of the U4/U6.U5 tri-snRNP, a major splicing factor required for pre-mRNA splicing. It interacts with other snRNP proteins, such as SNRNP200, and is essential for the assembly and function of the spliceosome, which catalyzes the removal of introns from pre-mRNA. Mutations in SNRNP25 have been linked to severe developmental disorders, highlighting its critical role in splicing and normal development.

SNRNP25 is also known as C16orf33.
