SNAPC3

Description

The SNAPC3 (small nuclear RNA activating complex polypeptide 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

SNAPC3 (snRNA-activating protein complex subunit 3) is a protein encoded by the SNAPC3 gene in humans. It interacts with SNAPC1 and the retinoblastoma protein.

The SNAPc complex, which includes SNAPC3, is essential for transcribing both RNA polymerase II and III small-nuclear RNA genes. SNAPC3 binds to the proximal sequence element (PSE), a non-TATA-box basal promoter element common to these gene types. It then recruits TBP and BRF2 to the TATA box of the U6 snRNA gene.

SNAPC3 is also known as PTFbeta, SNAP50.
