SNAI3

Description

The SNAI3 (snail family transcriptional repressor 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

SNAI3 inhibits myoblast differentiation by acting as a transcriptional repressor. It blocks the activation of downstream myogenic bHLH genes that are controlled by E-box sequences. Specifically, SNAI3 preferentially binds to the canonical E-box sequences 5'-CAGGTG-3' and 5'-CACCTG-3'.

SNAI3 is also known as SMUC, SNAIL3, ZNF293, Zfp293.
