SMAD5-AS1

Description

The SMAD5-AS1 (SMAD5 antisense RNA 1) is a ncRNA gene located on chromosome 5.

SMAD5-AS1 is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is antisense to and nested within the SMAD5 gene. This means it is located on the opposite strand of DNA from the SMAD5 gene and its sequence overlaps with a portion of the SMAD5 gene. It has been found to be expressed in fetal heart, fetal adrenal glands, and pancreatic tumors, suggesting it may play a role in development and disease. The exact function of SMAD5-AS1 is not fully understood, but it is thought to be involved in regulating the expression of the SMAD5 gene.

SMAD5-AS1 is also known as DAMS, SMAD5AS, SMAD5OS.
