Description
The SLC45A3 (solute carrier family 45 member 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.
SLC45A3, also known as prostate cancer-associated protein 6 or prostein, is a protein encoded by the SLC45A3 gene in humans. It is expressed in normal prostate tissues but at a significantly lower level in prostate tumor cell lines. Androgen treatment of prostate cancer cell lines upregulates SLC45A3 expression. The expression of SLC45A3 is regulated by the microRNA mir-126*.
