SLC31A2

Description

The SLC31A2 (solute carrier family 31 member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

Probable low affinity copper uptake protein 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SLC31A2 gene.

SLC31A2 does not act as a copper(1+) importer within living organisms. However, in laboratory settings, it functions as a low-affinity copper(1+) importer. SLC31A2 regulates SLC31A1, aiding in the cleavage of the SLC31A1 ecto-domain or stabilizing the truncated form of SLC31A1. This leads to endosomal copper export dependent on the truncated SLC31A1 form and influences copper and cisplatin accumulation via SLC31A1.

SLC31A2 is also known as COPT2, CTR2, hCTR2.
