SLC17A2
Description
The SLC17A2 (solute carrier family 17 member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.
SLC17A2 functions as a membrane potential-dependent transporter for organic anions. This process requires a low concentration of chloride ions. It also facilitates the transport of urate, dependent on the presence of chloride. Importantly, SLC17A2 actively moves inorganic phosphate into cells, coupled with the movement of sodium ions.
SLC17A2 is also known as NPT3.
