SLC16A10

Description

The SLC16A10 (solute carrier family 16 member 10) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

SLC16A10, also known as MCT 10, TAT1, and solute carrier family 16 member 10, is a protein that is encoded by the SLC16A10 gene in humans. It belongs to the solute carrier family.

SLC16A10 is a sodium- and proton-independent transporter that carries thyroid hormones and aromatic amino acids. It facilitates both the uptake and release of T3 and T4 with high affinity, indicating its role in maintaining thyroid hormone levels. SLC16A10 also transports aromatic amino acids like phenylalanine, tyrosine, tryptophan, and L-dopa with lower affinity, contributing to their homeostasis.

SLC16A10 is also known as MCT10, PRO0813, TAT1.
