SIKE1

Description

The SIKE1 (suppressor of IKBKE 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

SIKE1 acts as a natural inhibitor of IKK-epsilon and TBK1, preventing the activation of IRF3 in response to viral infections and TLR3 signaling. It blocks the activation of interferon-stimulated response elements (ISRE) and the IFN-beta promoter, likely by disrupting the interaction between IKBKE or TBK1 and other proteins like TICAM1/TRIF, IRF3, and RIGI. However, it does not affect NF-kappa-B activation pathways.

SIKE1 is also known as SIKE.
