SIGLEC9

Description

The SIGLEC9 (sialic acid binding Ig like lectin 9) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

Sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 9 is a protein encoded by the SIGLEC9 gene in humans.

Siglec-9 acts as an adhesion molecule, mediating cell binding through its interactions with sialic acids. It exhibits preference for alpha-2,3- or alpha-2,6-linked sialic acids. Its ability to bind sialic acids can be hindered by interactions with sialic acids located on the same cell surface.

SIGLEC9 is also known as CD329, CDw329, FOAP-9, OBBP-LIKE, siglec-9.
