Description
The SFXN2 (sideroflexin 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.
SFXN2 is a mitochondrial amino-acid transporter that mediates the transport of serine into mitochondria (PubMed:30442778). It plays a role in mitochondrial iron homeostasis by regulating heme biosynthesis (PubMed:30570704).
SFXN2 is also known as SLC56A2.
