SFRP5

Description

The SFRP5 (secreted frizzled related protein 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

SFRP5 is a protein encoded by the SFRP5 gene in humans. It belongs to the SFRP family, characterized by a cysteine-rich domain that resembles the Wnt-binding site of Frizzled proteins. SFRPs act as soluble regulators of Wnt signaling. SFRP5, along with SFRP1, may play a role in establishing the polarity of photoreceptor cells in the retina. SFRP5 is highly expressed in the retinal pigment epithelium and moderately expressed in the pancreas.

SFRP5 is also known as SARP3.
