SETSIP

Description

The SETSIP (SET like protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

SETSIP acts as a transcriptional activator, particularly during the initial phases of somatic cell reprogramming. It contributes to the differentiation of protein-induced pluripotent stem cells (PiPS) into endothelial cells, facilitating the formation of vascular-like structures in laboratory settings. SETSIP directly influences the expression of vascular endothelial-cadherin (VE-cadherin) by promoting its transcription. This activity is achieved through SETSIP's association with the VE-cadherin gene promoter.

SETSIP is also known as SETP18.
