SERP1

Description

The SERP1 (stress associated endoplasmic reticulum protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

Stress-associated endoplasmic reticulum protein 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SERP1 gene.

SERP1 interacts with target proteins as they are transported into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). During ER stress, SERP1 safeguards unfolded proteins from degradation. After stress subsides, it potentially helps in glycosylation of target proteins. It may also influence the selection of N-glycosylation sites on target proteins.

SERP1 is also known as RAMP4.
