SEMA6B

Description

The SEMA6B (semaphorin 6B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

SEMA6B acts as a repellent on the surface of developing neurons in the hippocampus, specifically for mossy fibers. This repulsion plays a key role in guiding the growth of axons. SEMA6B might exert its function through interaction with the PLXNA4 receptor, which is found on mossy cell axons.

SEMA6B is also known as EPM11, SEM-SEMA-Y, SEM-SEMA-Z, SEMA-VIB, SEMAN, semaZ.
