SEMA4G

Description

The SEMA4G (semaphorin 4G) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

Semaphorin-4G is a protein encoded by the SEMA4G gene in humans. Semaphorins are a diverse family of proteins with a semaphoring (Sema) domain and a PSI domain in their N-terminal region. They are categorized into eight classes, with classes 3-7 found in vertebrates. Semaphorins act as guidance cues for axons through multimeric receptor complexes often involving plexin proteins. Semaphorin-4G belongs to class 4 semaphorins. Notably, the SEMA4G gene and the gene for mitochondrial ribosomal protein L43 are located at 10q24.31 and transcribed in opposing directions.
