SCML4
Description
The SCML4 (Scm polycomb group protein like 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.
SCML4 is a protein that belongs to the Polycomb group (PcG) proteins. These proteins are known to work together in groups, forming large complexes that play a critical role in regulating gene expression during development. Specifically, PcG proteins are involved in maintaining the ‘switched off‘ state of certain genes, called homeotic genes, which are essential for proper development of the body plan. SCML4‘s role in this process is still being studied, but it‘s likely that it contributes to the silencing of these crucial genes.
SCML4 is also known as dJ47M23.1.
