SCGB2A1

Description

The SCGB2A1 (secretoglobin family 2A member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

SCGB2A1, also known as Mammaglobin-B, is a protein primarily found in mammary tissue. Its expression is highly specific to this tissue and is used for identifying and detecting disseminated breast cancer cells.

SCGB2A1 may bind androgens and other steroids, potentially interacting with steroid hormones. It can also bind estramustine, a chemotherapy drug used for prostate cancer. The expression of SCGB2A1 may be regulated by steroid hormones.

SCGB2A1 is also known as LPHC, LPNC, MGB2, UGB3.
