RRP1B

Description

The RRP1B (ribosomal RNA processing 1B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 21.

Ribosomal RNA processing protein 1 homolog B is a protein encoded by RRP1B gene which is located on Chromosome 21.

RRP1B positively regulates DNA damage-induced apoptosis by acting as a transcriptional coactivator of proapoptotic target genes of the transcriptional activator E2F1. RRP1B likely plays a role in ribosome biogenesis by targeting serine/threonine protein phosphatase PP1 to the nucleolus. It is involved in the regulation of mRNA splicing, inhibits SIPA1 GTPase activity, and is involved in regulating expression of extracellular matrix genes. RRP1B associates with chromatin and may play a role in modulating chromatin structure.

RRP1B is also known as KIAA0179, NNP1L, Nnp1, PPP1R136, RRP1.
