RREB1
Description
The RREB1 (ras responsive element binding protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.
RREB1 is a protein encoded by the RREB1 gene in humans. Mutations in RREB1 are associated with type 2 diabetes-associated end-stage kidney disease.
RREB1 is a transcription factor that binds to RAS-responsive elements (RRE) in gene promoters. It represses the angiotensinogen gene and negatively regulates the transcriptional activity of AR. RREB1 also potentiates the transcriptional activity of NEUROD1 and promotes brown adipocyte differentiation. Additionally, it may be involved in Ras/Raf-mediated cell differentiation by enhancing calcitonin expression. RREB1 interacts with NEUROD1 and AR.
RREB1 is also known as FINB, HNT, LZ321, RREB-1, Zep-1.
