RRAGA

Description

The RRAGA (Ras related GTP binding A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

Ras-related GTP-binding protein A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the RRAGA gene.

RRAGA is a guanine nucleotide-binding protein that plays a crucial role in the cellular response to amino acid availability by regulating the mTORC1 signaling cascade. RRAGA forms heterodimers with RagC/RRAGC or RagD/RRAGD and cycles between an inactive GDP-bound state and an active GTP-bound state. When GTP-bound, RRAGA forms a complex with GDP-bound RagC/RRAGC or RagD/RRAGD, becoming active. When GDP-bound, RRAGA heterodimerizes with GTP-bound RagC/RRAGC or RagD/RRAGD, becoming inactive. In its active GTP-bound form, RRAGA promotes the recruitment of mTORC1 to the lysosomes, where it is subsequently activated by the GTPase RHEB. RRAGA is also involved in the RCC1/Ran-GTPase pathway and may directly contribute to a TNF-alpha signaling pathway that leads to cell death.

RRAGA is also known as FIP-1, FIP1, RAGA.
