RPS6KA6

Description

The RPS6KA6 (ribosomal protein S6 kinase A6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

RPS6KA6 is a gene that encodes a protein belonging to the ribosomal S6 kinase family, which are serine-threonine protein kinases regulated by growth factors. While the encoded protein may be distinct from other members of this family, studies suggest that it is not growth factor dependent and may not participate in the same signaling pathways.

RPS6KA6 is a constitutively active serine/threonine-protein kinase that exhibits growth-factor-independent kinase activity. It may participate in p53/TP53-dependent cell growth arrest signaling and play an inhibitory role during embryogenesis.

RPS6KA6 is also known as PP90RSK4, RSK-4, RSK4, S6K-alpha-6, p90RSK6.
