RPS6KA2

Description

The RPS6KA2 (ribosomal protein S6 kinase A2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

RPS6KA2, encoded by the RPS6KA2 gene in humans, is an enzyme belonging to the RSK (ribosomal S6 kinase) family of serine and threonine kinases. It contains two distinct kinase catalytic domains and phosphorylates various substrates, including members of the mitogen-activated kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway. RPS6KA2 activity is implicated in regulating cell growth and differentiation. Different isoforms of RPS6KA2 are produced through alternative splicing. RPS6KA2 has been shown to interact with MAPK3 and MAPK1.

RPS6KA2 is also known as HU-2, MAPKAPK1C, RSK, RSK3, S6K-alpha, S6K-alpha2, p90-RSK3, p90RSK2, pp90RSK3.
