RPLP0

Description

The RPLP0 (ribosomal protein lateral stalk subunit P0) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

RPLP0 encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 60S subunit, which is involved in protein synthesis. This protein is similar to the E. coli L10 ribosomal protein and belongs to the L10P family. It is a neutral phosphoprotein and forms a complex with P1 and P2 proteins. Multiple transcript variants exist, all encoding the same protein. There are also multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene dispersed throughout the genome.

RPLP0, also known as 60S acidic ribosomal protein P0, is functionally equivalent to the bacterial ribosomal protein L10 from Escherichia coli.

RPLP0 is also known as L10E, LP0, P0, PRLP0, RPP0, uL10.
